Attorney General Alan Wilson Issues Statement Following The State Supreme Court Ruling on The State v. Paul Gwinn
Brief: “Huge victory for victims of criminal domestic violence.”
(COLUMBIA, S.C.) Today, Attorney General Alan Wilson issued the following statement on the court’s ruling in the South Carolina Supreme Court case, The State v. Paul Gwinn.
“We applaud the Supreme Court in its interpretation of South Carolina’s constitution.
“The court’s ruling today is a landmark. This decision further enshrines the authority of the Attorney General as the state’s chief prosecutor under our State constitution. It affirms our authority to prosecute criminal domestic violence cases in magistrate and municipal courts throughout the state.
“This decision is a victory for victims of criminal domestic violence.”
