Charleston County Men Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - May 17, 2019 - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Frederic George Schreyer, Jr. (age 57), of Johns Island, SC, and Brandon Hamilton Beiger (age 39), of Charleston, SC, on six charges each connected to the sexual exploitation of minors.  Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office made the arrests.  Investigators with the Attorney General's Office, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Charleston Police Department and Hanahan Police Department, all also members of the state's ICAC Task Force, assisted with the investigations.

 

Investigators state both Schreyer and Beiger possessed files of child pornography.  In addition, Beiger distributed files of child pornography.

 

Schreyer was arrested on May 9, 2019.  He is charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree (§16-15-410), a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count.

 

Beiger was arrested on May 15, 2019.  He is charged with five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree (§16-15-405), a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count; and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree (§16-15-410), a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment.

 

These cases will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.

 

Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
