Georgia Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - Nov. 6, 2019 - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Samuel Edward Swim, Jr., age 55, of Dalton, GA, on 11 charges connected to the exploitation of a minor. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation leading to this arrest. Investigators with the Whitfield County (GA) Sheriff's Office, U.S. Marshal's Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations assisted with this arrest in Dalton, GA. All three agencies work with the Georgia ICAC Task Force.

 

Investigators state Swim solicited a person he believed to be minor for sex, encouraged a person he believed to be a minor to produce child pornography, and distributed nude images to a person he believed to be a minor.

 

Swim was arrested on November 4, 2019. He is charged with three counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, first degree (§16-15-395), a felony offense punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment on each count; six counts of criminal solicitation of a minor (§16-15-342), a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count; and two counts of attempted dissemination of obscene material to a person under age eighteen (§16-15-345), a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count.

 

Swim will be extradited to South Carolina and the case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.

 

Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
