Mount Pleasant Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - Dec. 5, 2019 - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Gregory Robert Tibbetts, age 39, of Mount Pleasant, on two charges connected to the sexual exploitation of a minor. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Mount Pleasant Police Department made the arrest.  

 

Investigators state Tibbetts engaged in sexually explicit communication with and traveled to meet someone he believed to be a minor.

 

Tibbetts was arrested on November 27, 2019. He is charged with one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor (§16-3-655); and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, first degree (§16-15-395), a felony offense punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment.

 

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.

 

Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
