Darlington County Man Arrested on Criminal Sexual Charges with a Minor

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - Dec. 13, 2019 - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Joseph James Williamson, age 47, of Darlington, SC, on four charges connected to the sexual exploitation of a minor. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office made the arrest

 

Investigators state Williamson solicited sex from a minor and engaged in criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

 

Williamson was arrested on December 10, 2019. He is charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, second degree (§16-3-655(b)); and one count of criminal solicitation of a minor (§16-15-342), a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count.

 

This case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.

 

Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
