(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - Dec. 16, 2019 - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Charles Scott Rogers, age 47, of Myrtle Beach, SC, on four charges connected to the sexual exploitation of a minor. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Horry County Sheriff's Office made the arrest. Investigators with the Attorney General's Office, North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety, U.S. Secret Service, and 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit, all also members of the state's ICAC Task Force, as well as Coastal Carolina University Police Department, assisted with this investigation.
Investigators state Rogers distributed and possessed files of child pornography.
Rogers was arrested on December 12, 2019. He is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree (§16-15-405), a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count; and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree (§16-15-410), a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.
Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
