Attorney General Alan Wilson announces State Grand Jury indictments against alleged fentanyl manufacturing ring

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced today that eight targets of the State Grand Jury “Pressed for Time” investigation have been indicted. The investigation is focused primarily on a fentanyl trafficking organization operating in Greenwood and Abbeville Counties with ties to Aiken, McCormick, Anderson, Greenville and Richland Counties. 

In this investigation, the defendants are alleged to have been using illegal pill presses to manufacture blue pills containing fentanyl. They are alleged to have distributed the pills through members of the drug trafficking organization. The organization also allegedly trafficked methamphetamine. Law enforcement has seized approximately 4,119.14 grams of fentanyl and 3,781.62 grams of methamphetamine.

“Yet again, the State Grand Jury built a multi-jurisdictional partnership to fight fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking on the organizational scale,” Attorney General Wilson said. State Grand Jury Division chief attorney S. Creighton Waters thanked all the agencies for their hard work in the case. 

The Attorney General’s office again stressed the dangerousness of fentanyl. Just two milligrams of fentanyl (an amount small enough to fit on the tip of a pencil) can be lethal. Fentanyl is often mixed into counterfeit pills resembling Xanax or Oxycodone. 

Eighth Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo said, “We have been working diligently for several years now in the 8th Circuit to attack and eliminate the scourge of deadly fentanyl pill presses. This is yet another example of seamless partnership of law enforcement agencies working across jurisdictional lines, utilizing the statewide grand jury, to remove dangerous narcotics from our streets in South Carolina.”

The following defendants have been charged:

Daveon Antonio Butler AKA “Dae Dae” is charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More (Conspiracy); Trafficking Methamphetamine, 400 Grams or More (Conspiracy); Trafficking Fentanyl, 4-14 Grams; Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More; Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime; Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, and Trafficking Methamphetamine, 200-400 Grams.

Omarion Lamar Williams AKA “O” is charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More (Conspiracy); Distribution of Fentanyl; (x3) Trafficking Fentanyl, 4-14 Grams; Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl; Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More; and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.   

Khalil Hikeem Abney AKA “Frank” is charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More (Conspiracy); (x3) Distribution of Fentanyl; Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More; and Resisting Arrest. 

E’Zavius Malik Tydrea Fuller AKA “E’Z” is charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More (Conspiracy); Trafficking Methamphetamine, 400 Grams or More (Conspiracy); (x4) Trafficking Fentanyl, 4-14 Grams; (x3) Trafficking Fentanyl, 14-28 Grams; (x2) Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More; (x2) Unlawful Conduct Towards a Child; Trafficking Methamphetamine, 400 Grams or More; Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime; and Distribution of Fentanyl. 

Darrell Shornrecon Phillips AKA “Murda Mook” is charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More (Conspiracy); Trafficking Methamphetamine, 400 Grams or More (Conspiracy); (x5) Trafficking Fentanyl, 4-14 Grams; Distribution of Fentanyl, (x2) Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More; Failure to Stop for Blue Lights; (x2) Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime; Trafficking Methamphetamine, 400 Grams or More; and Trafficking Methamphetamine, 200-400 Grams. 

Jerell Donta Williams AKA “Nupac” is charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More (Conspiracy); Trafficking Methamphetamine, 400 Grams or More (Conspiracy); Trafficking Fentanyl 4-14 Grams; Failure to Stop for Blue Lights; Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More; Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime; and Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine. 

Kentayvis Markeese Goode AKA “Scoot” is charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More (Conspiracy); Trafficking Methamphetamine, 400 Grams or More (Conspiracy); (x2) Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More; Trafficking Methamphetamine, 400 Grams or More; and Trafficking Fentanyl, 4-14 Grams.

Zeterius Rayshun Jones is charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More (Conspiracy); Trafficking Fentanyl, 28 Grams or More; Trafficking Methamphetamine, 400 Grams or More; and Failure to Stop for Blue Lights. 

The case was investigated by the South Carolina State Grand Jury, which was assisted in this case by a partnership of the Attorney General’s State Grand Jury Division, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the Eighth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, the Greenwood City Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Abbeville County Sheriff's Office, and the Aiken County Sheriff's Office. The cases will be prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Savanna Goude and State Grand Jury Division chief attorney Senior Assistant Deputy Attorney General S. Creighton Waters.

Attorney General Wilson and Solicitor Stumbo stressed that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
