Anderson Police Arrests Pelzer Man for Solicitation of a Minor

Columbia - Attorney General Alan Wilson announced today that on April 13, 2011 the Anderson Police Department arrested Joseph W. Wilson, 61, of 155 Country Glen Lane in Pelzer, SC on four (4) counts of criminal solicitation of a minor. The arrest was made with assistance from the Anderson Sheriff’s Office.

The Anderson Police Department and Anderson Sheriff’s Office are both members of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Arrest warrants allege Joseph Wilson engaged in online conversations with a person he believed to be a minor, who was actually an undercover office with the Anderson Police Department.

Joseph Wilson was arrested on four (4) counts of Criminal Solicitation of a minor (§16-15-342), a felony offense punishable by up to ten (10) years imprisonment. He was released on $25,000 bond with no internet and no unsupervised contact with children.

A booking photo is available through the Anderson County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.

Attorney General Alan Wilson stressed that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
