(COLUMBIA, S.C.) – South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announces that Antonio Mackey, 40, of Lancaster County, was sentenced on August 2nd to 15 years in prison for a violent home invasion that occurred almost five years ago. Mackey pleaded guilty on the second day of his trial to charges of Burglary First Degree, Kidnapping, and Assault and Battery First Degree. Judge Alex Kinlaw handed down the sentence.
Mackey pushed his way into a home on Nope Lane during the early morning hours of October 27, 2017. The woman who owns the home tried to get out but he pulled her back in. He then choked her in her bedroom and took her cellphone. She was able to retrieve her pistol and shot him in the abdomen. Mackey fled the home and evaded law enforcement for several months, until his ultimate arrest in May of 2018.
Assistant Attorney General Kinli Abee prosecuted the case with the assistance of Assistant Attorney General Jason Bridges. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and Lt. Jennifer Rumbaugh investigated the case.
