(COLUMBIA, S.C.) – Attorney General Alan Wilson announces that, on November 4, 2024, Britney Campbell pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor, First Degree, in Greenville County for sexually abusing a baby and was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
On January 5, 2021, the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a cybertip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding the sharing of Child Sexual Abuse Material online. The investigation led law enforcement to a residence in Greenville County, where they executed a search warrant on January 21st, 2021. At the time of the search warrant, they seized several digital and computer-related items, including a 3 TB hard drive. A review of the hard drive revealed 13 images of child sexual abuse material of an adult woman engaging in sexual activity with a male infant. Further investigation revealed that a cell phone belonging to Britney Campbell had been backed up to the hard drive. Other images on the device corroborated that the woman in the photos with the baby was Campbell.
It was determined that Campbell lived in Union, South Carolina, so the case was forwarded to the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office for further investigation. Investigator Lucinda McKeller was assigned the case and executed a search warrant on Campbell’s home in Union. At the time of the search warrant, Campbell was read her Miranda rights and interviewed. She identified the baby in the images and admitted to sexually assaulting the baby on two occasions at a home in Greenville County. Campbell was arrested at that time.
Judge Alex Kinlaw, Jr., sentenced Campbell to 35 years at the South Carolina Department of Corrections, with credit for 1,341 days already served. She will have to register as a sex offender and will have lifetime GPS monitoring upon release.
