Attorney General Alan Wilson applauds advancement of judicial reform

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) –South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson made the following statement regarding the advancement of judicial reform in the South Carolina legislature.

“I have always advocated that appointments to the Judicial Merit Selection Commission rest in the hands of the Governor. Reforming the JMSC and how we select judges in our state will change the imbalance of power in our judicial system in South Carolina.”

“I applaud the efforts of the House Judiciary Committee for advancing meaningful reforms in the General Assembly.”

Attorney General Wilson has been a leader in the fight for transparency and reform in our state’s judiciary for years.

He has led a bipartisan coalition of law enforcement calling for reforms, hosted roundtables with pastors and faith leaders, and held public events and forums for voters and legislators across the state.

Along with hosting multiple events, Attorney General Wilson also testified before a House Ad-Hoc committee on the need for judicial reform.
