Attorney General Alan Wilson applauds agreement between S.C. Election Commission and Department of Justice

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) – Attorney General Alan Wilson issued the following statement regarding the agreement to release voter information to the Department of Justice:

“As Attorney General, I have worked diligently to ensure our elections in South Carolina are the most secure in the nation. I am pleased to see that the South Carolina Election Commission and the Department of Justice have reached an agreement regarding the release of our voting records. Ensuring safe, legal, and fair elections is a priority for both President Trump and me. Only American citizens should be voting in American elections. South Carolinians should also have confidence not only in our elections, but also that the transfer of this voter roll data to the Department of Justice will not be tampered with. I will continue to work alongside President Trump to protect the integrity of our elections and guarantee fairness across the board.“
