Attorney General Alan Wilson applauds House of Representatives for passing the prohibition of abortion-inducing drugs

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) –South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson made the following statement regarding H.4760 passing in the House of Representatives.

“South Carolina has been clear: we will protect life. Mailing abortion pills with fewer safeguards, no real medical oversight, and no accountability puts women at risk, harms families, and devalues human life. I applaud the House for standing up for common sense protections and for taking another step to defend the most vulnerable.”

In 2024, Attorney General Wilson co-led a brief supporting North Carolina laws that regulated the prescribing and dispensing of abortion-inducing drugs. You can read that brief here.

In February of 2023, Attorney General Wilson filed a brief challenging the Food and Drug Administration's rollback of safety mechanisms for abortion-inducing drugs to make them widely available by mail. You can read that brief here.

Also in 2023, Attorney General Wilson joined a letter with 20 state attorneys general to CVS and Walgreens informing them that their plan to distribute abortion-inducing drugs through the mail was illegal. You can read that letter here.
