(COLUMBIA, S.C.) – South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson made the following statement after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled that President Trump can deploy the National Guard to Washington, D.C. The Court’s ruling stays a district court ruling against the President’s Executive Order and allows the deployment while the case is appealed.
“As a member of the National Guard for almost 30 years, I strongly support President Trump’s efforts to make Washington, D.C. safer and am thankful that the Court of Appeals agreed with our brief on the issue,” Attorney General Wilson said. “The President’s plan is completely within his authority and the right thing to do to end lawlessness in our Capital.”
