Attorney General Alan Wilson applauds the House of Representatives for passing judicial reform

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) –South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson made the following statement regarding the advancement of judicial reform to the South Carolina Senate.

“I have always advocated that appointments to the Judicial Merit Selection Commission rest in the hands of the Governor. Reforming the JMSC and how we select judges in our state will change the imbalance of power in our judicial system in South Carolina.”

“I applaud the efforts of the House of Representatives today for advancing substantial judicial reform. I look forward to working with the Senate to ensure we bring better transparency to our judicial system.”

Attorney General Wilson has led in the fight for transparency and reform in our state’s judiciary for years.

He has led a bipartisan coalitions of law enforcement calling for reforms, hosted roundtables with pastors and faith leaders, held multiple public events and forums for voters and legislators across the state, and testified before a House Ad-Hoc committee on the need for judicial reform.
