(COLUMBIA, S.C.) – South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson is looking into Clinton Newberry Natural Gas Authority’s (CNNGA) recent price increases for natural gas.
"Our office received a number of complaints from constituents regarding the recent price increases as a consequence of the severe weather events occurring this winter,” Attorney General Alan Wilson stated. “In light of the numerous complaints, CNNGA’s decision to increase natural gas rates needs to be better understood.”
The letter highlights complaints from residents who get their natural gas from the Clinton Newberry Natural Gas Authority and are deeply concerned about the unexpected large increase in their gas bills. The Attorney General is asking the Authority to explain its decision to increase its natural gas rates, including its awareness of supply disruptions and increased demand.
