Chesterfield County man arrested on Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor and Related charges

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of James Michael Presnell, II, 40, of Cheraw, S.C., on five charges connected to the sexual exploitation of a minor. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Lexington Police Department made the arrest. Investigators with the Attorney General's Office, also a member of the state's ICAC Task Force, assisted with this investigation. 

 

Investigators state Presnell solicited and traveled to meet a person he believed to be a minor, and sent sexually explicit images to a person he believed to be a minor.

 

Presnell was arrested on October 27, 2025. He is charged with two counts of criminal solicitation of a minor (§16-15-342), a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count; one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor (§16-3-655(B)(1)); and two counts of dissemination of obscene material to a person under the age of eighteen (§16-15-345), a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment on each count.

 

 

This case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.

 

Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
