Greenville Man Arrested on Kidnapping, Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor, and Related Charges

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Carlos Andony Bardales Vasquez, 24, of Greenville, S.C., on five charges connected to the sexual exploitation of minors. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Greenville Police Department made the arrest.

Investigators state Vasquez kidnapped and engaged in criminal sexual conduct with a minor and possessed files of child sexual abuse material.*

Vasquez was arrested on March 28, 2024. He is charged with one count of kidnapping (§16-3-910), a felony offense punishable by up to 30 years imprisonment.

While in custody, Vasquez was served with additional warrants on April 3, 2024. He is additionally charged with one count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor (§16-3-655(3)); and three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree (§16-15-410), a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment.

This case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.

Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.

* Child sexual abuse material, or CSAM, is a more accurate reflection of the material involved in these heinous and abusive crimes. "Pornography" can imply the child was a consenting participant.  Globally, the term child pornography is being replaced by CSAM for this reason.
