Greenville P.D. Arrests New York Man for Criminal Solicitation of a Minor
Columbia - Attorney General Alan Wilson announced today that on April 22, 2011, Greenville Police Department, a member of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, arrested Andrew James Smith, 32, of 631A Lewis Avenue in Ft. Drum, NY.
The Attorney General's Office ICAC Special Investigator, Army CID and Military Police all assisted and significantly contributed to the arrest.
Arrest warrants allege Smith engaged in online conversations of a graphic and sexual nature with a person he believed to be a minor, who was actually an undercover officer with the Greenville Police Department.
Smith was arrested on two (2) counts of Criminal Solicitation of a Minor (§16-15-342), a felony offense punishable by up to ten (10) years imprisonment and two (2) counts of Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor (§16-15-345), a felony offense punishable by up to ten (10) years imprisonment.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
Wilson stressed that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
