(COLUMBIA, S.C.) - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that Jody Lee Hudson, 48, of Laurinburg, N.C., pleaded guilty on November 22, 2024, to one count of Communicating Obscene Material to Other Persons without Consent.
Hudson was arrested on March 7, 2023. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Mount Pleasant Police Department made the arrest. Investigators with the U.S. Marshals Service, also a member of the state's ICAC Task Force, assisted with this investigation.
Investigators state Hudson solicited a person he believed to be a minor for sex and encouraged them to produce child sexual abuse material.
Judge Jennifer McCoy sentenced Hudson to three years in prison, suspended upon service of three years of probation, which could be terminated after 18 months if he is compliant with mental health treatment ordered by the Court.
