Columbia - Attorney General Alan Wilson announced today that Christopher Lynn Beam, 41, of 125 Robert Mason Circle in Boiling Springs, South Carolina, was arrested on August 30, 2011, by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office for manufacture of child pornography.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is a member of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Task Force investigators have received training on the use of special software to conduct undercover investigations related to the sharing of child pornography on peer-to-peer (file sharing) networks.
Beam is charged with one (1) count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor (§16-15-395), 1st Degree, a felony offense punishable by three (3) to twenty (20) years imprisonment.
Beam is charged with creating digital photographs and/or videos depicting a seven (7) year old child engaged in sex acts. Beam’s computer was seized for forensic examination. Evidence found on that computer resulted in his arrest.
A booking photo is available through the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
Wilson stressed that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
