Referencing that Act No. 572 of 1960 provides for four year terms of office for Lexington County magistrates which expire on December 31, 1988 and that Act No. 678 of 1988 provides for four year terms which commence on May 1, 1991; and addressing what term of office magistrates should be appointed for until 1991 and pursuant to what legislation. This opinion also addresses whether there will be a vacancy December 31, 1988 or if the current term will be extended by the 1988 legislation.
